WHOIS Lookup & Domain Registrar Finder
Find out who any domain is registered with, when it was registered and when it expires. Free, instant, and straight from the official domain registry.
What is a WHOIS lookup?
A WHOIS lookup shows the public registration record of a domain name: which registrar it's registered with, when it was registered, when it expires, its nameservers and its status. People use it to check if a domain is about to expire, to find where to transfer or renew a domain, or to see how old a website is before doing business with it.
How to find who a domain is registered with
- Enter a domain name, like example.com, in the box above.
- Press "Look up domain". The tool asks the official domain registry over RDAP.
- Read the registrar, registration date, expiry date, nameservers and status.
What the results mean
- Registrar: the company that sold and manages the domain. Renewals, transfers and DNS changes happen there.
- Expires on: if it lapses, the website and email on that domain stop working.
- Nameservers: which service runs the domain's DNS, often the host or Cloudflare.
- Status: codes like "client transfer prohibited" are normal locks that protect against hijacking.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find out who a domain is registered with?
Type the domain into the WHOIS lookup above. The registrar field shows the company the domain is registered with, such as Namecheap, GoDaddy or Cloudflare. That's where the owner renews it and manages its settings.
How can I check when a domain expires?
Run a WHOIS lookup and look at the expiry date. The tool also shows how many days are left, highlighted in red when it's under 30 days. If your own domain is close, renew it with your registrar so the site and email don't go offline.
Why can't I see the domain owner's name and email?
Since GDPR, most registries hide personal contact details in WHOIS. The registrar, dates, nameservers and status are still public. To reach an owner, use the contact form on their website or the registrar's abuse contact.
What is RDAP and how is it different from WHOIS?
RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the official, modern replacement for WHOIS, run by the same registries. It returns structured, reliable data. This tool uses RDAP, so the results come straight from the registry.
How do I check how old a domain is?
The "Registered on" date in the WHOIS results is when the domain was first registered. The tool shows its age in years next to it. Older domains often carry more trust with search engines and buyers.
Is this WHOIS lookup free?
Yes. It's free with no signup. You can run up to 30 lookups every 10 minutes.
